How to care for your silk garment?
Silk is a noble and delicate material, so it's important to avoid rubbing and heat to preserve its soft, shiny appearance.
So wash your silk by hand or with a professional dry cleaner, do not use your washing machine. When washing by hand, use water at 20°C maximum, as hot water damages the fibres. It is also preferable to apply gentle pressure rather than rubbing the fabric.
You can leave the silk to soak in soapy water for no more than 5 minutes. Use a mild liquid detergent, or even shampoo, but do not use washing powder. Rinse thoroughly in cold water.
Machine spin-drying is not recommended as it can also damage the fibres of delicate fabrics. When washing by hand, do not wring out the fabric. Instead, blot the damp fabric between two absorbent towels, for example, then lay it flat on a drying rack. Avoid exposing silk to the sun or near a radiator. This could alter the colour and appearance of the fabric.
Iron the silk garment on the reverse side only, at a low temperature and still very slightly damp.
